Se forma en 1989 en Los Ángeles por Christopher Thorn (guit), Rogers Stevens (guit), Brad Smith (bajo), Glen Graham (batería) y Shannon Hoon (Voz); con sonidos alternativos ligados al blues, country y rock, la banda se fue abriendo camino en la escena explosiva principio de los año 90 principalmente con su canción No Rain la cual les abrió las puertas del oído mundial, mensajes de amor y a la ves deprimentes Blind Melon supo capturar la atención de muchos, la banda se mantuvo activa oficialmente hasta el año 1999 aun cuando en 1995 Shannon Hoon muere por sobredosis de Cocaína. Luego de un largo periodo sin actividad la banda vuelve a juntarse el año 2006 pero esta ves con un nuevo vocalista, Travis Warren, con el cual lanzan un nuevo álbum, en el que auditivamente era escuchar a Hood pero visualmente eran una banda nueva, dos años mas tardes deciden sacar a Warren por perder la voz en un tour aunque mayormente Warren dejo la banda por problemas con los otros miembros; otra ves sin vocalista deciden continuar la carrera musical siendo ayudados por un par de vocalistas mas, sin mucha actividad la banda aun sigue activa aunque sin dar rastros de una unión concreta con algún vocalista.
